MAGAZINE EDITORIAL

TEDDY BOYS

This project was a 2 week project in my first year at Hertfordshire University. Our brief was to create a magazine editorial layout on any subculture of our choosing. I focused on the Teddy boys movement from the 1950’s.

I wanted to express through my type and layout the style of clothing and the type of people that used to dress like this. I kept it all very simple and to the point by only including elements in the layout that I think either enhanced the layout (such as the lines to break up the text and give the bulk sections of text more structure) or was needed (title page). The main element of my layout design was my title layout, as I played around with the positioning of the letters and chose a typeface with a bit of an edge  to entice the reader to look further into the article. Fashion is a strong passion of mine, therefore the combination of magazine editorial being influenced by such an iconic fashion movement really caught my attention and I really enjoyed exploring further into magazine editorial and all the different elements within this design field.
